The UK government partnered with PA Consulting and tasked us with encouraging local people to welcome more electric vehicles into the community. This is because all automobiles sold in the UK will be powered by electric batteries by 2030, in order to achieve a carbon-zero economy by 2050.

To understand the current challenges of our users, we did in-depth background research, surveys, interviews. We had 101 survey respondents and 35 interviewees, including both EV and non-EV owners. Our primary focus was to understand people's attitudes towards the transition to the EV era, as well as the daily travel routines and charging behaviours of EV drivers.

Then we invited 15 people to our Discovery Workshop and prepared separate activities for EV users and non-EV users. The objective of the workshop was to learn what influences people's perception of electricity and their charging habits.

We have decided to host an information campaign to raise awareness about our service and showcase its value. Physical campaign materials will be available at public transportation stops, coffee shops, and other stores near charging points.

The charger helps non-EV owners understand their electronic devices and establish good charging habits. It features a circle light, which shows when devices are adequately powered. On plugging in, the light turns blue and fades over 30 minutes.

With familiarity of Dr.O and charger light patterns, we can reduce physical waste and increase accessibility. Users will have a digital charge indicator on their phone's lock screen, reminding them when to stop charging.
