Delivery rider jobs have become popular due to their flexibility. But lack of benefits and job hazards are major concerns. The pandemic has worsened global issues and gig economy, but food delivery has thrived, leading to increased competition and reduced earnings for riders.

We conducted 8 interviews and observational research to study the job process of food delivery riders. We found that part-time and full-time riders have different motivations for being in this line of work.

Despite wanting to quit or receiving suggestions to do so, many are unable to leave the food delivery industry because they rely on it for their livelihood.

Enrolled riders will:

  1. Receive training

  2. Match with a restaurant job

  3. Receive a monthly salary with on-the-job training

We aim to partner with public funding institutions, starting in Singapore due to evidence of public funding availability and over 1000 restaurant job openings.

On our website, riders can find detailed information about our services, such as training lesson options and our partner businesses. After reviewing this information, they can either book an appointment with our consultant or enrol directly.

We tested the prototype with 4 riders in Singapore. Three showed interest, and 2 without degrees saw it as an opportunity to advance. One suggested focusing on flexibility and expanding into more industries.

If we were to continue on this project, we would test improvements to our structure and training program. We want to expand our audience to include other workers seeking stable careers and businesses needing employees, while also benefiting communities and insurance companies.
